Elon I Drew You is a hand-drawn pencil sketch of Elon Musk that Reddit user Watchieboy posted to r/drawing in March 2019 asking for critique1. The off proportions turned it into accidental comedy, and the drawing spread as a reaction image and remix template1. It was later minted as an NFT and inspired a nine-foot sculpture towed through Texas2.

Overview

Elon I Drew You, a hand-drawn pencil sketch of Elon Musk whose proportions are noticeably off, which is exactly why people love it1. The artist originally posted it for honest feedback, but commenters latched onto the wonky result and turned it into a running joke, dropping lines like "Visually Accurate :)" and "Elon Musk²"1.

What makes Elon I Drew You recognizable is that earnest, slightly-wrong-looking face. It gets pulled into unrelated screenshots, used as a reaction image, and remixed under dramatic music5. One widely shared version sets the drawing over Hans Zimmer's Interstellar score, treating the sketch like a profound cinematic frame5.

How It Spread

After the original r/drawing thread, the sketch kept circulating as Musk-related meme material through the late 2010s1. In 2021, Watchieboy minted the drawing as an NFT, and the buyer received both the digital token and the one-of-a-kind physical sketch shipped by mail2. Collector @lil_dojo recognized the cultural weight and bought it, and the ElonRWA project, a 'real world asset meme' organised by FeistyDAO, later launched as a memecoin on an Ethereum L2 built around the artwork2.

Elon I Drew You jumped off the screen in August 2024. A nine-foot fiberglass-and-foam bust modelled on the 2019 drawing was photographed being towed behind a Tesla Cybertruck through Brownsville, Texas, near SpaceX's home base3. The piece was commissioned by a French tech entrepreneur who goes by Louis XXII, who said the main goal was to bring more attention to the viral 2019 Reddit meme and that the statue was just a funny way to represent it3.

Stupid Dope covered the Brownsville stunt as a clear case of a Reddit meme moving from the screen into the physical world, tying the original Watchieboy drawing to the ElonRWA commission and the choice of SpaceX's home turf as the parade route4.

How to Use This Meme

Elon I Drew You is typically used as a reaction image or dropped into unrelated screenshots where the off-kilter face does the comedy5. A common convention is overlaying it with epic, dramatic music, like the Interstellar remix, so the crude sketch reads as if it were a deeply serious image5.
