How to Use This Meme

A typical Evil Duolingo Owl edit pairs a menacing version of Duo (photoshopped with weapons, cast in shadow, or looming behind a person) with a caption about missing a lesson or forgetting a word2. A common convention is the fake push notification, which reads like a threat rather than a reminder5. Horror-movie teaser framing, like Duolingo's own 'Coming Soon' post, is often reused as a template3.
