Jeb Wins is a photoshopped electoral college map showing Jeb Bush celebrating a 538-vote sweep that never happened. The format later became an exploitable template, with Bush replaced by characters like Waluigi.

Where did Jeb Wins come from?

The source photo was taken by Chip Somodevilla for Getty at a February 1, 2016 town hall in New Hampshire. An anonymous 4chan user posted the first edit to /pol/ on September 11, 2016.

What does Jeb Wins mean?

The humor contrasts Bush's real 2016 run, which he suspended in February after finishing fourth in New Hampshire, with a fake map crediting him with every electoral vote. Posters use it to joke about absurd election outcomes.

How do you use Jeb Wins?

Users typically replace the US map behind Bush with a different territory, such as the UK or France. Exploitable versions replace Bush himself with another character while preserving the clean-sweep layout.

Is Jeb Wins still popular?

Peak activity came during the 2016 US election and the 2017 UK and French elections. It is now regarded as a classic 2016 political meme, with exploitable edits documented through 2017.

Overview

The image centers on a photo shot by Getty's Chip Somodevilla at a February 2016 town hall, cropped tight on Bush mid-speech with his hand raised like a victory gesture11. In the edit, a US electoral map behind him glows one solid color while a scoreboard shows Bush with every electoral vote and his opponent with zero. Humor hinges on the gap between the fantasy sweep and Bush's actual run, which ended on February 20, 2016 after a fourth-place New Hampshire finish4. Jeb Wins variations either replace the map, as in UK and French editions, or replace Bush entirely with a cartoon character or video game mascot9.
