Seth Rollins is a WWE wrestler whose name became internet slang in February 2015 after his then-fiancée allegedly leaked his nude photos on social media in retaliation for a suspected affair with fellow wrestler Zahra Schreiber1. The scandal turned his name into a verb on Urban Dictionary and fueled years of on-air jokes from other wrestlers2.

Overview

The Seth Rollins meme has two overlapping strands built around the WWE wrestler born Colby Lopez3. The first is a slang usage codified on Urban Dictionary, where to "Seth Rollins" someone means for a girlfriend to post her partner's nude photos online through social media2. That definition entered circulation after a real-world incident in February 2015 involving Rollins' own leaked pictures1.

The second strand is the nickname "Crossfit Jesus," applied to Rollins by fans because of his long hair, beard, and dedicated CrossFit training regimen3. Both threads produced running jokes inside WWE storytelling itself, with commentators and fellow wrestlers occasionally winking at the leaks or the Jesus comparison on live broadcasts3. Rollins later opened his own training school, the Black and Brave Wrestling Academy, giving fans another venue to reference the character behind the meme4.

On February 9, 2015, a nude selfie of NXT wrestler Zahra Schreiber appeared on Rollins' Instagram, Twitter and Facebook accounts, and briefly on WWE's own website, which auto-pulls from performer feeds1. Rollins' then-fiancée Leighla Schultz then tweeted two nude photos of Rollins with the caption "Zaharah?" before deleting her account1. Rollins issued a public apology for "private photographs that were distributed without my consent"3.

The episode was widely reported as retaliation after Schultz reportedly discovered a romance between Rollins and Schreiber, with cryptic Facebook posts from Schultz appearing to quote messages between the two1. Schreiber was later released from her WWE contract3. Within months, Urban Dictionary users submitted entries turning "Seth Rollins" into a verb for the exact scenario the leak described2.

How It Spread

The scandal spread rapidly through wrestling news sites and mainstream entertainment outlets within 24 hours of Schultz's tweets, with E! Online covering the leak and Rollins' apology the following day1. Fans on wrestling forums and Reddit's r/SquaredCircle turned the incident into recurring jokes about Rollins' physique and personal life, running parallel to the older "Crossfit Jesus" nickname tied to his hair and training routine3.

On the August 29, 2016 edition of Raw, wrestler Big Cass told Rollins that "size does matter" in a promo about Cass' seven-foot frame, roughly 5:43 into the segment5. Many viewers read the line as a deliberate double meaning aimed at the 2015 leak, and clips of the moment circulated on YouTube and wrestling blogs3. Kevin Owens also referenced the Crossfit Jesus tag during a WWE live event in Manila on September 9, 2016, yelling the nickname mid-match and performing sardonic star jumps3.

Urban Dictionary submissions cemented the slang usage, with entries competing between the insult definition and straightforward fan tributes praising Rollins as a wrestler2. Rollins' post-scandal career kept the references alive, including his 2019 Royal Rumble win and his 2018 launch of the Black and Brave Wrestling Academy training facility4.
