Overview

This Shit Probably Funny as Fuck, also written as This Shit Probably Funny as Hell, captions a post the viewer cannot read, the joke being that someone who understands the language is probably laughing hard right now 6. Posters typically caption Arabic, Mandarin, Spanish or Japanese text with the line, implying the writer must be killing it in their own tongue. Variants fold in the cropped 2018 screenshot of the original reply as a stacked reaction, or substitute Chinese Panda Reaction Images for a similar gag about imagined laughter 10.

Beyond foreign-language captions, usage bent toward references the poster did not get, such as @NxtDeterio's riff on Family Guy name-checking an obscure white celebrity 4. The humor sits in admitting that a joke lands for somebody, just not you.

How It Spread

After the initial 2018 bounce, the cropped screenshot stayed in circulation as a reaction, with Instagram accounts like @m3m3god reposting it going into the 2020s 7. The big uptick came on February 17, 2023, when X user @NxtDeterio captioned the image with "this how it feels when I see family guy reference some random obscure white celebrity," gaining roughly 4,800 likes over the following months 4.
