DogDay is the orange, anthropomorphic dog leader of the Smiling Critters toys in Poppy Playtime: Chapter 3: Deep Sleep, which hit Steam on January 30, 2024. Fans latched onto him well before launch, teaming him with villain Catnap in YouTube animations and DeviantArt art. By early 2024, DogDay-and-Catnap edits were the dominant fan output in the Smiling Critters corner of the Poppy Playtime fandom.

Overview

Fan output around DogDay runs heavy on animation that teams him with Catnap, the chapter's main antagonist. Short YouTube cartoons often cast DogDay as a cheerful foil who pesters, teases, or softens Catnap, while DeviantArt pieces lean toward quieter domestic or rainy-day scenes between the two6. His orange fur and expressive black eyes1 give fan artists a readable silhouette that works at small animation scale.

Across the fandom, tone splits between gag animations (DogDay bugging Catnap) and emotional ship art that casts the two as friends or lovers4. Game-canon horror imagery tends to stay inside gameplay reaction content, so the fan work tends to look softer than the source material.

Two days after that, DeviantArt user @KatiAmel added a DogDay portrait that brought in more than 9,400 views and 175 favorites by early 20245.
