I Wonder If They Ever Explored Each Other's Bodies is a shitpost caption that asks whether two or more well-known figures ever got physically intimate. It grew from a June 2021 tweet by @cal_gif speculating about the founders of the Five Guys burger chain1. By July 2021, Instagram meme pages were applying the line to Simon and Garfunkel, Ice Age characters, Taylor Swift and Karlie Kloss, and even the cast of BrainPop27.

Overview

Posts in the format take any duo or small group, often an unlikely pairing of fictional characters, musicians, or product mascots, and place them beneath text either stating or wondering whether they explored each other's bodies6. Variations use the exact catchphrase, a slight reword such as 'do you think X ever explored each other's bodies,' and the white-on-blue Whisper app overlay style popular on Instagram meme pages at the time3.

Humor comes from the absurd pairing getting the same deadpan, horny what-if treatment: cartoon mammoths from Ice Age, a 1960s folk duo, children's educational software mascots, all flattened into a single speculative question47. Posts generally lift stock publicity photos, promotional stills, or screencaps that show the subjects sitting together, and the caption carries the entire joke.
