Khia
Published October 16, 2026
Khia is an online slang term labeling a musician or celebrity as irrelevant, outdated or a flop, lifted from the name of rapper Khia Finch of "My Neck, My Back (Lick It)" fame1. A 2014 photo of an emotional fan posing beside Khia gave the word its sting, with X users mocking the idea that anyone would cry over meeting her2. By mid-2023, stan Twitter accounts were lobbing "khia" at Nicki Minaj collaborators, Ice Spice detractors and any artist they wanted to dismiss1.
Overview
A typical khia post is a one-word reply. When somebody shares excitement about a new single or feature, another user drops a terse "khia" or "KHIA" underneath it to call the artist a flop1. It also works as a plain noun, used in phrases like "khia collab" for a feature with a smaller name, or "these khia producers" for a lineup of unknowns8.
Tone sits between sincere disses and self-aware joking. Fans of major pop stars often aim it at R&B singers or lesser-known rappers, while posters sometimes use it against beloved artists for the irony. X user @itstheyonce showed the ironic register, replying "now who the fuck is this khia??" to a Google result for an Animal Crossing villager7.
Urban Dictionary entries from 2023 described khia as a stan Twitter word for an artist a user considers a flop, naming H.E.R., Tinashe and Mariah the Scientist as example targets8. The term can also mock disproportionate hype, as in celebrating a track going #1 on iTunes with three sales being "so Khia"8.
