Look, Pim, I Know It's Our Job is an exploitable screencap from the pilot of Adult Swim's Smiling Friends, where Charlie whispers to his coworker Pim that their suicidal client is 'a lost cause.' After Twitter user @Cybershell cut transparent PNG templates of the two in mid-January 2022, remixers inserted Spamton G. Spamton, Joker and Nikocado Avocado into the scene within days.

Overview

The exploit uses layered PNGs of Charlie and Pim with the full line, 'Look, Pim, I know it's our job to help this guy and everything, but he's a lost cause.' Posters place the duo in front of a character they want to roast as unsalvageable, with Pim's cheerful stance and Charlie's resigned posture doing the comedic work1. Common targets are public figures or fictional characters already seen as past saving, from doomed YouTubers4 to characters with self-destructive arcs5.

Video versions keep Zach Hadel's muttered delivery from the pilot and composite Charlie and Pim over a new image, often using Conkface's green screen export of the exchange9. The joke works because Charlie's dismissal sounds unusually resigned for a cartoon about professional cheerers-up, so inserting an inappropriate 'lost cause' reads as both callous and accurate3.
