Overview

Minion Staring In The Forest is an AI-generated image of a Minion character standing in a dark forest and looking straight at the viewer3. Most people describe it as creepy and unsettling, which is the whole joke given the character comes from the family-friendly Despicable Me franchise.

The image also goes by Scary Minion or just Staring Minion. It became the anchor image of a photo-slideshow meme format on TikTok in early 20251. Most versions pair the image with captions following the 'How I look at X' template, with the Minion standing in for the poster silently glaring at someone who has done something annoying5.

The real breakout happened on TikTok on January 20, 2025, when @user197429037 posted the image as a single-slide photo carousel that hit over 3.5 million likes in nine days1. Two days later, @mysglare_ posted an iteration captioned 'IK where you live' that reached 2.5 million likes in a week. The trend crossed to Instagram Reels through creators like @motormia.co and @gio.temple, and reached X on January 27 when @northstardoll posted a version reading 'Do you hate me be honest' that received 258,000 likes in two days6.

How to Use This Meme

Grab the image, add a caption in the 'How I look at X' or 'How I stare at X' format describing a small grievance, and post it as a one-photo TikTok slideshow using the 'Old Roblox horror music' sound1. The joke typically works because the Minion's intense stare feels wildly out of proportion for whatever petty annoyance the caption describes.
