Peter Griffin At The Door is an exploitable Family Guy redraw meme where Peter opens his front door to a surprise guest, usually captioned with the snowclone 'Holy crap Lois, it's X!' The format started in April 2018 with Peter meeting Sans from Undertale and spread through 4chan and Reddit as a template for shoving any pop culture character into the scene.

Overview

Peter Griffin At The Door is built on a simple visual: Peter Griffin from Family Guy standing in his open doorway, mouth agape, delivering the snowclone line 'Holy crap Lois, it's X!' where X is swapped for whatever character or celebrity the artist wants to jam into the frame1. Fan artists redraw the scene from scratch, matching the flat Seth MacFarlane house style so each crossover reads as if it aired on the show4.

The joke gets its weight from Peter's dumbstruck reaction being aimed at guests who would never plausibly turn up on his porch, from Undertale's Sans to Yakuza's Kazuma Kiryu5. The format sits next to Sneedposting and Maskposting as one of the Family Guy / Simpsons shitpost templates that anons kept iterating on through the late 2010s, and it drew similar criticism for being forced and rushed4.

How to Use This Meme

People typically redraw the front-door scene themselves rather than photoshopping, keeping Peter's stunned pose and the porch background but swapping the visitor for a character from a fandom the audience cares about. The caption usually keeps the 'Holy crap Lois, it's...' opener and finishes it with the crossover character's name4.
