Overview

Uzz refers to a TikTok slang trend where creators bolt the '-uzz' suffix onto random words, spinning off portmanteaus of 'huzz,' an AAVE term for 'hoes' popularized by Twitch streamer Kai Cenat3. Urban Dictionary catalogs 'uzz' itself as a diminutive meaning 'underaged huzz'4. What started as one catchphrase in 2023 grew into a full mock dictionary by late 2024, with entries like bruzz, gruzz, fuzz, and chuzz.

TikTokers made entire videos listing every -uzz word they could invent. The trend piled together with parallel slang like 'yunc' and 'fine shyt' during peak brainrot-posting season, and shares structural DNA with older suffix jokes like '-ussy' and the 'rizz nicknames' wave.

On February 16, 2023, TikToker @clippedode posted a clip of Kai Cenat saying 'for the huzz' on stream, referring to a group of women1. That video is the earliest known online use of the term and later pulled around 41,100 plays over the following year. Two days later, on February 18, 2023, huzz was added to Urban Dictionary2. The word sat in low-traffic Reddit and X circulation for over a year before its viral moment arrived.

How It Spread

Huzz caught real traction in August 2024. TikToker @slizzymatt posted a Cinnamon Toast Crunch edit captioned 'When the huzz canceled the 2 man,' which pulled roughly 5.8 million plays over three months and dragged the term into wider TikTok rotation3. X user @RickyScang42 also dropped a huzz tweet referencing LeBron Hennessy that racked up over 56,000 likes in two weeks.

The suffix started mutating in September 2024. On September 20, TikToker @wahbandz posted a bathroom video whose description casually dropped 'bruzz' as slang for bros, and a near-identical follow-up from @mardb4057 the next day pushed the word further. 'Bruzz' had actually been on Urban Dictionary since July 2008, but the 2024 videos are what made it catch on5.

November 2024 was peak Uzz. On November 13, @aaqilj coined 'gruzz' (grandma plus huzz) in a Queen Cheryl and King Quran video, while @mrmack888's elderly stock-photo video introduced 'gruzzy' the same day and hit around 259,000 plays in two days3. A day later, @marquitos.g posted a POV video cramming 'unempluzzed,' 'euzz,' 'knuzz surgeryuzz,' 'subuzz,' and 'auruzz' into a single slang-overload caption.

How to Use This Meme

Making an Uzz word is basic pattern matching: take a normal word, cut the ending, and staple '-uzz' onto whatever remains. Common examples include bros to bruzz, grandma to gruzz, and unemployed to unempluzzed. Videos typically stack five or six invented Uzz words into a single sentence for a brainrot-style overload.
