Blows Up Pancakes with Mind is a TikTok sound format where one character pours syrup onto pancakes while a second character telekinetically detonates the stack. User goovma uploaded the first version on August 13th, 2022, pairing a Dwayne Johnson image from The Rock's Pancakes with a cartoon man tapping his forehead. By April 2023, the audio had been reused in roughly 8,200 TikTok videos and had spilled onto YouTube and fan wikis.

Overview

Each entry follows a tight script. One character begins pouring syrup onto a stack of pancakes, a second character appears with a finger pressed to their temple, the voiceover says 'blows up pancakes with mind,' the first character yells 'ma fuckin pancakes,' and the pancakes burst apart3. The audio is the fixed element; creators change the characters, art style, and setting around it.

Most uploads lean on fandom casts, running the gag with characters from cartoons, anime, and video games rather than live-action footage2. The humor sits in the mismatch between the slow, deliberate pour and the sudden overreaction, plus the deadpan absurdity of 'with mind' as a stated power. Because the sound is short and the beats are rigid, animators and PNGtubers can hit the format in under ten seconds1.

The first known entry is a TikTok posted on August 13th, 2022 by user goovma. The clip uses a still from the earlier Rock's Pancakes image, showing Dwayne Johnson behind a tower of pancakes, while a cartoon man taps his forehead and announces the detonation3. In place of an explosion, goovma cut to a stock clip of a police car ramming another vehicle as the punchline. The video drew over 102,000 likes on TikTok and seeded the audio that would carry the format3.

How It Spread

The audio spread as a reusable TikTok sound rather than through reposts of goovma's original video. Other users layered their own scenes over the voiceover, and TikTok's sound page for the clip counted around 8,200 videos using it by April 26th, 20232. Fandom-focused creators dominated the pool, running the gag with anime, cartoon, and video game casts1.

The format reached YouTube by August 16th, 2022, when a user named Gwen Wilson posted a short titled 'blow up pancake w mind.' Later reuploads, including a repost of goovma's original by an account called System, kept the audio in circulation on that platform13. Example edits using the sound appear in YouTube uploads throughout the following months, including entries that stage the pancake destruction with different fictional characters46.

The sound also crossed into static art. On August 31st, 2022, Fandom.com user SorbetOo00oONo1 posted a series of drawings on the Doors wiki, restaging the scene with characters from the Roblox game Doors5. That image-meme offshoot stayed niche compared with the video volume on TikTok.
