Overview

Erin Moriarty Plastic Surgery refers to the online reaction and comparison-image trend that took off in mid-January 2024 after The Boys actress posted selfies to her Instagram showing a noticeably different face1. Fans and entertainment outlets speculated she had work done, with guesses landing on a smaller nose, fuller lips, botox, and reshaped cheeks3.

The images set off side-by-side edits pairing older photos of Moriarty with the January 2024 shots, most often framing her earlier Starlight-era appearance as the preferred one2. A parallel wave of defensive posts also formed, with users pushing back on the pile-on over her looks and pointing to prior harassment she had described3.

How It Spread

The January 2024 wave took off through a January 14 X post by @hippojuicefilm that paired before-and-after images with the line 'Women need to stop plastic surgery until we figure out what's wrong,' pulling in over 34 million views and 135,000 likes within four days4. Cosmic Book News covered the tweet the same week, listing a nose job, fillers, botox, and a possible facelift among fan guesses1. Fandom Wire tied the discourse to reactions after The Boys Season 4 trailer, adding rumors of chest augmentation2.

Comparison edits kept circulating on Imgur and Reddit, including a January 16 side-by-side by user astronomypictures labeled 'Starlight' versus 'Stoplight' after her superhero character. On January 26, 2024, Moriarty deleted several recent Instagram posts and shared a two-image statement describing the trauma of the reaction and announcing a break from social media4.

How to Use This Meme

The template is typically a two-panel or grid comparison pairing early-Season-1 Starlight images of Moriarty with the January 2024 selfies or Season 4 trailer stills, often with captions playing off her superhero name (for example, 'Starlight' versus 'Stoplight')2.
