In June 2024, IShowSpeed sang "Happy day, Ronaldo day" while skating during a hockey lesson with NHL player Cole Caufield, then got body-checked into the boards. Two years later, in September 2026, TikTok resurfaced the clip and turned it into one of the season's dominant edit templates.

Overview

Happy Day, Ronaldo Day is a viral clip and edit format built around a five-second moment from a 2024 IShowSpeed YouTube video where the streamer skates down the rink singing the phrase before an NHL player levels him into the wall1. The shout-out to footballer Cristiano Ronaldo, the goofy melody, and the abrupt hit combine into a cause-and-effect gag that edits keep reusing.

By September 2026 the clip mutated into several recognizable formats on TikTok, including brainrot edits stacked with Subway Surfers-style filler, fake Google-search bits asking "When is Ronaldo day," hospitalization gags exaggerating the injury, and accuracy reenactments filmed on ice23. The check itself is the punchline, so most edits build tension around the singing before landing on the same body-check frame.
