If X Has a Million Fans, I'm One of Them
Published October 8, 2026
A Cristiano Ronaldo fan copypasta posted to Facebook in July 2013 that scales devotion from a million fans down to zero. It later jumped to Reddit, Twitch chat spam, and esports Twitter, before an ironic Onision image macro turned it into a go-to recaption format in late 2021.
Overview
The format works as a pledge of extreme fan loyalty, counting down from a million fans to one fan to zero fans to "I'm dead." People sub in a favorite footballer, streamer, snack brand, or band at the top of the chain and run through the full ladder1. Early versions treated it sincerely among Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi fans, while Twitch and esports Twitter use leaned harder into chat spam territory45.
The late 2019 Onision image macro added the recognizable visual: a smiling photo of the YouTuber with the copypasta pasted on top, posted ironically after the controversy around him7. Recaption versions keep the same text and layout but swap the Onision photo for whatever subject the poster is "defending," from 100 Gecs to Taco Bell9. A separate strain starting in 2021 misattributes the quote to Franz Kafka's "Letters to Milena," even though no English edition of the book contains that passage6.

How to Use This Meme
Pick a subject, usually a celebrity, athlete, streamer, brand, or band, and work down the ladder: "If [X] has a million fans, I'm one of them. If [X] has one fan, that's me. If [X] has no fans, I'm dead." The Onision image macro version is typically done as a recaption, where the Onision photo is swapped for a picture of the new subject while the text stays the same7.
