Overview

The format uses a still of Danny DeVito's Frank Reynolds staring hard at the framed dog painting while Charlie stands next to him1. Editors paste a new image over the original portrait, keeping Frank's disgusted expression as the fixed reaction, so the joke lands on whatever character, franchise, or object the swap targets3.

Popular swaps lean on fandom pet peeves, replacing the dog with anime characters, video game screenshots, and cartoons that the poster's community loves to hate2. The line 'Its smug aura mocks me' is sometimes kept as a caption and sometimes dropped, since Frank's face alone reads as focused contempt.

How to Use This Meme

Grab the still of Frank glowering at the framed dog painting and paste your target image over the frame. The target is typically a character, ship, or product the poster's community argues about, and the caption often keeps Frank's original line intact or drops it entirely when the face carries the joke2.
