PS5 Has No Games
Published October 27, 2026
Starting March 2020, anonymous 4chan /v/ posters wrote a Linkin Park 'In the End' parody mocking Sony's PlayStation 5 for its thin exclusive lineup. Four years later the gripe mutated into the 'Notice How There Are No Games on PS5' phrasal template, with X users captioning photos of PlayStation owners doing anything except gaming.
Overview
By August 2024 the PlayStation 5 catalog held roughly 2,600 titles, with only about 15 of them exclusive to the system4. The jab updates a 2007 'PS3 Has No Games' complaint for the next console generation, with posters arguing that owners paid $500 for a glorified Blu-ray player.
Two formats carry the bit. One is a parody of Linkin Park's 'In the End' that rewrites the chorus around buying a PS5 with no games to play on it1. The other is 'Notice How There Are No Games on PS5,' a phrasal setup laid over screenshots of PlayStation menus full of PS4 remasters, Netflix sessions and sports streaming apps5. Both run on the same accusation, that Sony's hardware exists as decoration while the first-party release calendar sits mostly empty10.
