The Celebrity Look Alike Trend is a September 2026 TikTok fad where users run their photos through the website Star By Face and post the celebrity matches alongside their own image. Overview

Videos in the Celebrity Look Alike Trend follow a simple visual format1. Users upload a selfie to Star By Face, screenshot the ranked list of celebrity matches (each tagged with a percentage), then stitch the results together with their original photo in a short TikTok1. Results skew all over the place, with people pulling names like Leonardo DiCaprio, Zendaya, Madelyn Cline, Barbra Streisand, Zac Efron, and Jennifer Aniston out of the same tool1.

Reactions to the matches drive the humor. Some creators lean into flattering picks as a flex, while others use the format to laugh at how far off the site is from anything they see in the mirror1. A dedicated CapCut template that cuts between the user's face and each celebrity match to a beat drop became the dominant visual layout as the trend picked up steam on TikTok3.

2026

The trend began circulating on TikTok in early to mid September 2026 around the browser tool Star By Face, which scans an uploaded photo and returns celebrity matches with similarity percentages for both male and female stars1. UK student outlet The Tab published a step-by-step guide to the trend on September 14th, 2026, noting that TikTok users had not bothered to explain how the tool actually worked before the format went wide1.

On September 17th, 2026, TikTok user @w1ld.lynxx posted an early viral entry showing their Star By Face results next to their own photo2. According to Know Your Meme, the video pulled roughly 1.4 million views and 172,100 likes in about a day3.

How It Spread

The format multiplied within 24 hours. On September 18th, 2026, TikTok user @renitence uploaded their own version of the trend and drew about 2.8 million views and 391,100 likes on the day of upload4. Later that same day, @sambrohow flipped the format into a joke picking apart the tool's results, pulling around 616,600 views and 161,600 likes5.

As more people jumped in, creators started stacking Star By Face outputs onto CapCut templates that flick between the original selfie and each celebrity match1. Additional entries like @tren5810l1p6 and @acaywfda7 carried the template into different corners of TikTok, keeping the Star By Face branding attached to the trend as it moved. Coverage from The Tab helped push the trend outside TikTok's algorithm by explaining the tool to readers who had only seen the results without knowing where they came from1.
