A TikTok facial expression trend where creators contort their faces to mimic the sharp-jawed GigaChad look, made famous through videos like ithunderballz's March 2022 clip.

Where did Chad Face come from?

TikToker Bradeazy claimed to popularize the face stretch version on September 26, 2020, though the Chad character itself predates that by years.

What does Chad Face mean?

It exaggerates the perceived alpha-male look of the GigaChad character, delivered as a comic transition rather than a sincere pose.

How do you use Chad Face?

Film a neutral shot, then cut to the exaggerated face on a beat drop, often using the TikTok Face Stretch filter and 'Prolly My Spookiest Beat' by Prodby668.

Is Chad Face still popular?

The trend peaked in 2022 with tutorials like itsyuhboiisam's June 26, 2022 video pulling 50.9 million plays and 5.1 million likes.

Overview

Chad Face, also called GigaChad Face, is the do-it-yourself facial expression tied to the Chad and GigaChad meme characters3. The look involves slanting the eyebrows down, flaring the nostrils, sucking in the cheeks, puckering the lips, and jutting the jaw forward to sharpen the jawline.

Its visual cues borrow from Mewing, a jawline-strengthening practice that spread on YouTube starting in 2011, and from the 'Millimeters of Bone' jawline aesthetic that surfaced on Twitter in June 20163. On TikTok, creators usually deliver the face as a rapid transition on a beat drop.
