Overview

Dolly Dimpley is an original character run by the YouTube channel Critter clipz 2002, who edits her into clips from the Adult Swim animated series Smiling Friends1. The bit borrows heavily from an earlier self-insert format popularized by The Cool Autistic Gamer 774, and fans quickly started drawing the two together and even shipping them2.

Her look is instantly recognizable: a Black woman with long, light-blue Hatsune Miku-style hair, a black-and-purple zip-up crop top over a blue undershirt, green shorts, green headphones, and a yellow beanie stamped with the Smiling Friends HQ smiley face3. She usually just stands or sits inside real scenes from the show without any of the canon characters acknowledging her, which is most of the joke.

The character debuted on October 5th, 2025, when Critter clipz 2002 uploaded a YouTube video titled "Smiling Friends – Mr. Frog Pulls Pim's Hair," pasting Dolly into a clip from season 3, episode 2, "Le Voyage Incroyable de Monsieur Grenouille"4. Over the following three weeks the upload pulled in more than 56,100 views and 3,700 likes, and the channel kept dropping new edits placing Dolly into fresh scenes from the ongoing season4.

How It Spread

The tipping point came on October 21st, 2025, when Critter clipz 2002 posted an edit dropping Dolly into a season 3, episode 3 ("Mole Man") scene with Allan and Glep, which pulled 93,000 views and 6,900 likes in five days4. Later that day, X user @HengusM reposted the clip and wrote that TheCoolAutisticGamer's influence was spreading, a tweet that racked up over 11.4 million views and 58,000 likes inside a work week2.

The format snowballed on October 22nd. @unfunnymeat quote-tweeted a comparison between Dolly and Supermarioglitchy4 (SMG4) that pulled 33,000 likes5, @RabbitRadicals posted early fan art captioned "I think she's a little cute"6, and Redditor DingyDingoDog started a "Dolly Dimpley appreciation post" on /r/SmilingFriends that crossed 1,400 upvotes1. Two days later @SleakJ3 posted fan art of Dolly hugging The Cool Autistic Gamer 774 and jokingly asked what people thought of the ship, netting roughly 44,000 likes7.

The second wave hit on December 14th, 2025, when Critter clipz 2002 edited a season 3, episode 7 scene so that Dolly, tired of being ignored, punches Charlie and knocks him out8. The upload pulled 55,800 views, 10,000 likes and 1,770 comments in 15 hours. The next day @RodrigaoJogos reposted it to X, calling it a "legendary crashout," and the clip hit the trending section with over 4.7 million views, 81,000 likes and 8,900 retweets in under a day8. A repost on /r/SmilingFriends the same day cleared 3,900 upvotes and 380 comments in 15 hours1.

How to Use This Meme

The template is straightforward: take a scene from Smiling Friends and composite Dolly Dimpley into the frame so she is present but ignored by the canon cast1. Fan art typically pairs her with The Cool Autistic Gamer 774, either as friends or as a joke ship7. Reaction posts often play up the fan theory floated by X user @qwilfishy that Pim and the others can actually hear Dolly but something stops them from acknowledging her, which is why the December punch reads as a crashout instead of a gag.
