My Pronouns Are USA

"Conservatives Have One Joke" was the original title of the Daily Show's TikTok compilation, which strung together clips of American conservative politicians using gender pronouns as sarcastic punchlines1. Each clip follows an identical structure: a politician announces their pronouns, then swaps in a patriotic or dismissive phrase instead of he/him or she/her. Michelle Malkin's "U-S-A" line gave the audio its common title in later remixes3.

The April 2023 remix that sent the clip viral layers a bald eagle screech after every politician's line, turning the montage into a running joke about American patriotism tropes2. Users typically filmed themselves and friends mouthing along to the audio, often with one person dressed as an eagle or costumed in red, white and blue. Lip-dub videos appeared in bathrooms, grocery aisles, department stores and classrooms, with the eagle sound cuing increasingly theatrical reactions from the group4.

Users typically film the clip with one or more friends mouthing along to the audio, often including a costumed bald eagle performer who reacts on each eagle screech. Many record in a public setting like a school bathroom, department store or classroom, with exaggerated patriotic choreography keyed to the politicians' lines4.
