The Low Taper Fade Meme Is Still Massive is a TikTok joke format mocking streamer Ninja for repeatedly bringing up his haircut months after the original Low Taper Fade meme peaked. Creators paired a copypasta of Ninja saying the meme is 'still massive' with absurd edits showing him dragging the joke into future centuries, past lives, and alien planets1.

Overview

The Low Taper Fade Meme Is Still Massive is a joke format built around a single line from Fortnite streamer Richard 'Ninja' Blevins, in which he sings 'low taper fade' during a Twitch broadcast and insists the haircut meme about him 'is still massive'1. TikTokers turned the clip into a running gag about Ninja refusing to let a dead joke die, editing him into wildly different times, species, and settings while the same audio plays on loop2.

The format leans on the contrast between Ninja's earnest delivery and the increasingly ridiculous visuals stapled to it, from old-man versions to alien cameos to a pet bird taking over hosting duties2. AI voice tools also let creators re-record the copypasta in other voices, extending the bit well past its original clip2.

The wider Low Taper Fade meme started with musician @ericdoa freestyling the line 'imagine if Ninja got a low taper fade' on a January 2024 Twitch stream, riffing on the men's haircut that fades from longer hair on top down to shorter around the ears1. Ninja then actually got the haircut on January 13th, 2024 and posted a TikTok set to @ericdoa's audio, which pushed the original joke to nearly a million views1.

The 'still massive' spinoff traces to January 30th, 2024, when TikToker @oblivioncactus clipped a Twitch stream in which Ninja sang the phrase and called the meme 'still massive,' captioning the repost 'bro is still milking the meme'1. That video eventually pulled in around 4.3 million plays and 315,300 likes over roughly four months2.

How It Spread

The clip caught a second wind on April 28th, 2024, when TikToker @iitiborr reuploaded the @oblivioncactus video and racked up more than 1.8 million plays and 164,900 likes in about eight days2. Two days later, on April 30th, TikToker @quicksilver424 posted what is credited as the first parody, aging Ninja into an old man still dragging the joke, and the format opened up from there2.

May 1st, 2024 became the meme's real breakout day. TikToker @yourthirdwheel dropped a clip of a Ninja hologram in the year 6789 still calling the meme massive, which drew over 3.8 million plays and 464,200 likes in five days2. On the same day, TikToker @bpdmoder relocated Ninja to the exoplanet Kepler-62e for an alien-themed edit that pulled 1.1 million plays and 157,200 likes2.

The format kept escalating into May, with TikToker @rustupload flipping the joke onto Ninja's pet bird on May 5th, 2024 for more than 415,200 plays and 101,300 likes in a day2. YouTube Shorts creators picked it up around the same time, including AI-shorts-TV using an AI Storytelling framing2. By late 2024 the running gag mutated into the separate 'You Know What Else Is Massive?' meta joke, cementing the original as a jumping-off point rather than a one-off bit2.

How to Use This Meme

A typical edit takes the copypasta audio of Ninja singing 'low taper fade' and declaring the meme 'still massive,' then pairs it with visuals that place him in an absurd time or context, like a future hologram, a past life, a different species, or another planet2. Creators often swap Ninja's voice for an AI-generated version so the same speech can come from a baby, an old man, or an alien while the punchline stays intact1.
