Three Layer Dip Stack is a 2026 TikTok brainrot meme built on a screeching robot-Morty line from a 2020 Pringles Super Bowl teaser. When TikTokers SpaceShrimp and tobiasFT flipped the ad into remix tracks in July and August 2026, the phrase 'cheddar and barbecue wavy and sour cream and onion equals a three-layer dip stack' turned into one of the summer's loudest brainrot sounds.

Overview

The whole meme rides on one absurd line from a 2020 Pringles teaser, delivered by robotic Rick and Morty clones with tiny Pringles cans for eyes1. On TikTok, the audio is usually one of two remix songs stitched over food-stacking clips, in-store Pringles sightings, or animatics34. The joke lands on the pileup of flavors and the shrill, choral delivery of the Morty robots parroting their teacher.

A parallel offshoot took hold in VRChat, where players use flat cardboard-cutout avatars modeled on the ad's Morty robot and chant the line inside sleep and roleplay servers, with fans comparing the raids to earlier Ugandan Knuckles crashes5. Across both formats, the tone is loud, repetitive, and deliberately grating, which is the entire point of brainrot posting.

The line comes from a six-second teaser for Pringles' 2020 Super Bowl campaign, produced with Adult Swim and Grey Group, in which a classroom of Morty robots learns about 'flavor stacking' from a teacher-Morty who shrieks, 'Cheddar, BBQ Wavy and Sour Cream & Onion makes a three-layer dip stack'1. A reupload of the spot by YouTube user multtrash1434, posted on July 30, 2020, later became the archive TikTokers pulled from, collecting roughly 141,000 views over six years2.

The clip sat mostly dormant until mid-to-late 2025, when brainrot editors rediscovered the audio5. On July 8, 2026, TikTok user @spaceshrimp_78 uploaded a remix that treated the ad like a pop track, calling it the 'song of the summer' and pulling over 776,000 views in about a month3.

How It Spread

On August 9, 2026, TikToker @tobias_ft_124 posted a second remix built on the same audio, which passed 1.8 million views and 319,900 likes in nine days4. Those two songs became the default backing tracks for the trend.

Earlier in the run, on July 28, 2026, @thejessicate posted a video of themself building actual three-layer Pringles stacks to SpaceShrimp's remix, picking up over 119,700 likes6. The 'find Pringles in the wild' variant took off next: on August 4, @leomewtq10z filmed cans in a store to the audio for 756,700 views9, and on August 13 @kettlecornbob's grocery-store clip cleared a million views10. An Alight Motion animatic from @slime.148 on August 7 pushed the sound further, hitting about 3.5 million views in ten days7.

The wave also got mainstream write-ups. On August 6, 2026, YouTube channel Lessons in Meme Culture published a breakdown tying the TikTok trend back to the original Pringles ad, reaching over 330,300 views in about 11 days8.

How to Use This Meme

A typical post pairs one of the two remix tracks with something adjacent to Pringles or flavor stacking, like a taste-test, a grocery-aisle find, or a food-assembly clip69. VRChat versions often use a cardboard Morty avatar and repeat the line in a group. Edits usually keep the original screeching delivery intact, since the shrillness is the joke.
