"It's Not The Vibe STOP" is a TikTok audio meme built from a clip of YouTuber HRH Collective shouting about hairstyles, remixed with a Skyrim dragon shout. The sound blew up in late 2021 after a Tumblr user created the mashup edit, and it spread across TikTok with over 123,000 videos2. People use it to express moments of intense frustration, overstimulation, or when something just isn't the vibe.

Overview

The meme centers on a short audio clip where YouTuber HRH Collective declares "it's not the vibe" in a dismissive tone, immediately followed by a guttural, almost primal "STOP"1. A Tumblr user then spliced the audio with a dragon shout from Skyrim, giving the "STOP" an absurdly dramatic, earth-shaking quality2. The combination hit a nerve, perfectly capturing that feeling when you're at your limit and need everything around you to just cease.

The sound is used in TikTok sketches and POV-style videos depicting moments of peak annoyance, whether it's friends being distracting, awkward social encounters, or general sensory overload1.

On July 2, 2021, YouTuber HRH Collective uploaded a video titled "SHUT UP I'M STRESSED" to her channel2. During the video, she complained about "beachy wave" hairstyles, declaring "it's not the vibe" before shouting "STOP" in frustration2.

The clip sat relatively unnoticed until November 24, 2021, when Tumblr user Schakira posted an edit that combined HRH Collective's audio with a Skyrim Fus Ro Dah shout, amplifying the "STOP" into something ridiculous and powerful2. The post picked up over 21,000 notes on Tumblr2.

Just one day later, on November 25, TikTok user @sloppyyy_toppy reposted Schakira's edit to the app, where it took off quickly, pulling in over 221,000 likes2. On November 30, 2021, user @grisastre_ (Schakira's TikTok account) stepped forward to claim credit for creating the original Tumblr edit2.

How It Spread

Once the sound landed on TikTok, it spread fast. Within weeks, over 123,000 TikTok videos used the audio2. Mashable covered the trend as one of the defining TikTok sounds of late 2021, describing the "STOP" as tapping into a "feral frustration" that could work its way into your subconscious if you listened enough times1.

The biggest videos using the sound were comedy sketches built around relatable frustrations. On December 3, 2021, user @santosthelibra posted a video captioned "when im actually trying to do my work for once and my friends keep distracting me," earning over 1.2 million likes2. On December 16, @aileenchristineee posted a sketch showing an argument that hit 1.6 million likes, making it one of the most popular uses of the sound2.

Other popular takes included @kyahnextdoorreads with the caption "when I say I want new friends & a random person walks up and says hi to me"1. The format worked because it let people dramatize small, everyday irritations with a completely over-the-top audio reaction. The Skyrim shout turned a simple complaint into something cinematic, and the contrast between mundane pet peeves and apocalyptic sound design was the joke1.

Mashable declared 2021 "the year in vibes," and the "not the vibes" trend fit that theme perfectly as the year wound down1.

How to Use This Meme

The format is straightforward. Pick a situation where you're annoyed, overstimulated, or just done with something. The setup is typically a text overlay or caption describing the scenario, while the audio plays. The key beats:

1

The situation starts normal or even positive

2

Something tips it into "not the vibe" territory

3

The HRH Collective audio kicks in with "it's not the vibe"

4

The Skyrim-enhanced "STOP" hits as the punchline

Cultural Impact

The sound became one of the signature TikTok audios of late 2021, arriving at a time when "vibes" as a concept dominated internet culture1. It drew attention to the creative pipeline between Tumblr and TikTok, since the edit originated on Tumblr but found its massive audience on TikTok1. The trend also highlighted how remix culture on social media can transform a random YouTube rant into a shared vocabulary for expressing frustration.

HRH Collective, a beauty and lifestyle YouTuber, gained wider recognition through the meme even though the original video was a casual rant rather than anything designed to go viral2.

Fun Facts

The original HRH Collective video was about her disliking "beachy wave" hairstyles, a pretty niche complaint that somehow became the foundation for one of TikTok's biggest sounds that winter2.

Mashable warned that listening to the audio too many times might cause it to embed itself in your subconscious, calling the "STOP" a "feral frustration"1.

The Tumblr-to-TikTok pipeline moved incredibly fast here, with the edit jumping platforms in just one day2.

The Skyrim dragon shout (Fus Ro Dah) added to the audio is itself a well-known meme from the Elder Scrolls community, making this a meme built on top of another meme2.
