Overview

Verity's From Minecraft, He Belongs To Backrooms is a short animation in which Pirate Clark, a character from the Backrooms movie, and Steve, the default Minecraft player, tug on Verity from the Verity Minecraft mod while a vocal track repeats the title line1. Whichever side is winning at any moment redraws Verity in that universe's visual style, snapping between blocky Minecraft geometry and washed out Backrooms shading. The gag is the flat literalism of the lyric: the song simply asserts where Verity does and does not belong, and the picture does the arguing3.

By mid September 2026, the clip was less a video than a template. Users layered the audio over unrelated custody style fights, argued fandom origins with it, and made lip dub reaction versions where they mouth along to the tug of war chant24. Slowed and reverbed edits gave it a second life as ambient meme audio on TikTok4.

TikToker @web24535 posted the original animation on August 31st, 2026, showing Pirate Clark and Steve pulling Verity between the Backrooms and Minecraft aesthetics while the sung line "Verity's from Minecraft, he belongs to Backrooms" plays on loop1. The post picked up more than 400,000 views in the three weeks after it went up3.

The subject characters are not original to the meme. Verity comes from the Verity Minecraft mod, Steve is the Minecraft avatar, and Pirate Clark is drawn from the Backrooms movie property; @web24535 authored the animated tug of war format that ties them together3.

How It Spread

The video sat at moderate view counts through early September 2026 before Instagram and TikTok users started repurposing it. On September 19th, 2026, Instagram user @tgpu overlaid the clip on a screenshot of a comment section arguing about Verity's origins, and that reel passed 3,900 likes within two days2.

On September 20th, 2026, the format broke out. A TikTok photo post by @her.7hme4b swapped Verity, Steve and Pirate Clark for a map of Serbia, Albania and Kosovo, casting Kosovo as Verity in the middle, and pulled over 187,000 views in a day3. Later that day, @dihpressed.bobby uploaded a slowed and reverb edit of the original animation that hit more than 350,000 views in 24 hours5, and @ojsthename posted a lip dub set to the song that pulled over 366,000 views in the same window6.

More lip dubs and remixes followed on TikTok from creators including @limesicle7, @vexbolts8, @.thisisrah9 and @burrrito810, with users mouthing the chant, restaging the tug of war with other characters, or dropping the audio over unrelated arguments.
